Hi! I’m Ellie. I’m an 22 year old actor, writer, and theatre maker. Recent graduate, existential stress-ball, DND nerd. I could go on, but I think you get the idea.
My biggest passion is drama, or- as my cousin Jo so eloquently puts it- a desire to “don a wig and represent a tree through interpretive dance” (thanks, Jo). I’m excited about making art and telling stories through theatre, but writing is another way of expressing these stories.
I really love writing and generally documenting my life (diaries, vlogs, photography) so I started this with the intention of doing some actual honest non-fiction writing, even if it is exclusively my take on things.
So what will I write about? Still not sure. From where I’m standing (or more accurately, sitting) now, I’m thinking a mixture of reviews of theatre, film and television, life anecdotes, plus occasional keyboard tirades if I’m feeling particularly angry about politics/sexism, etc.

Haha, thanks! She’s actually part of the reason I decided to join wordpress over other blog-hosting sites. She’s got a blog that has been pretty much abandoned because she pretty much does social media for a living, so it’s less fun for her now I guess? Also it’s difficult to find the time.

Agreed! In terms of ‘what do I write about?’ The only advice I think is truly useful is that you should always write about topics that you love. As long as you find it interesting, then this will shine through to your readers!

Thank you for the advice, it’s greatly appreciated 🙂 I’ve been reading a few of your entries, it looks like you’re having the time of your life! I’m thinking of taking a year abroad, but I’m not sure whether I should take a gap year or do it in uni. Thoughts?

Ah- I could not recommend more taking a study abroad year! It depends what you’re looking to do, really. For me, I wanted to get started at university and I initially had no plans of studying abroad. It was only at the end of my first year, after I had decided to carry on with French, that it crossed my mind that studying in France for a year could be seriously beneficial. If you want to travel somewhere like Asia, or India, then you’re not going to be able to do this through a placement year with your university. But, if like me you’re looking to go somewhere like France or Spain or even maybe Germany, in order to study or work there and improve your language skills then I’d recommend a year abroad whilst at university. HOWEVER, I do know a few people who went off to Hong Kong and Australia as a study abroad period, not to learn the language but in fact just to have fun really. Personally, I don’t think I would’ve coped taking a year abroad straight after college- I was way too young and immature! Haha. Doing it between year 2 and 3 of uni was perfect for me- my head was a bit more screwed on when I had to deal with difficult things! If you want any more advice then I’m always happy to help 🙂

@beckybwinch I hope we both get a little closer to being able to stay on-topic! I think that rambling is just a normal human thing, I sometimes refer to it as ‘monologuing’!

They are the grades for the exams I sat this year. They are not very important in the scheme of things, but it’s quite nerve-wracking all the same

Thank you! I really owe her a lot because her blog convinced me to choose this site over others. Also when I discovered her blog as a satanic 14-year-old I read out an entry in from of a few members of extended family and she had to leave the room.
I was a terrible child and now live in fear of her discovering this blog and enacting revenge.

Ah, my dear Miss Ellie, if I may be so bold as to call you that, your writing is so very fun to read. Just write. And read – as much as you can, as often as you can. Jean Cocteau said “The greatest masterpiece in literature is only a dictionary out of order.” So mix and stir those words of yours frequently.
